Running with the Vision

Key Points:

Find Your Vision | Plan it Out | Continue Seeking God

1.Make Plans Out of Your Prayer Time Dreams + Visions

Habakkuk 2:2 Then the LORD answered me and said,

“Record the vision

And inscribe it on tablets,

That the one who reads it may run

Harness the awesome power of a vision or a dream to shape the activity of your days and how you spend your time on this earth.

Whatever your vision may be:

  • A healthy marriage or family
  • A strong, vibrant spiritual life
  • A health level – weight & exercise
  • Work
  • Finances
  • Buying a house
  • Slowing down

Your vision doesn’t have to be bigger and better… it just has to be what you want within the parameters of God’s guidelines and what He’s placed on your heart.

Proverbs 29:18 Without a vision, people perish

A vision is the picture you are building toward. The plan that God places on your heart. It’s the big picture on the puzzle box.

Your vision is what gives sense and direction to your days.

Without a vision, you spend your days putting out brush fires. In society today,we are strangely addicted to busy trivialities. We tend to plan our days as a bridge between our present circumstances and our vision of the future.

You must lean toward the fulfillment of your vision. If you only plan your days out of your past, or just out of dealing with your present circumstances…

  • You will just perpetuate your past
  • You will just perpetuate present circumstances

Something will have to change today, in order to move you toward your dreams and your vision.

The future is in your next step. It’s not 5 years down the road… it’s not way out there. You don’t just change things to change, you change in the direction of your vision.

Plan something today that moves you toward your vision. Take some kind of action today that moves you forward in your vision. It doesn’t have to be monumental, it can be a small step!

Maybe it’s:

  • A closer walk with God
  • A certain type of ministry
  • Getting healthier
  • Something in your business
  • A financial goal

Just take the next step toward it. Just. Take. A. Step! Give God something to bless.

  1. Set appropriate goals

Habakkuk 2:3 “For the vision is yet for the appointed time; It hastens toward the goal, and it will not fail. Though it tarries, wait for it; For it will certainly come, it will not delay.

Goals are the measurable steps toward the fulfillment of your vision. Maybe you want to strengthen your walk with Christ. How can you do that?

Maybe you:

  • Begin reading 3 chapters of the Bible  a day
  • Start praying in 20 minute increments
  • Start tithing regularly

Your mind and spirit are goal seekers.

The brain is a goal seeking organism. Setting a goal creates structural tension in your brain, which will seek to close the gap between where you are and where you want to be, who you are and who you want to be. If you don’t set goals, your mind will become stagnant. Goal setting is good stewardship of your right brain imagination. It’s also great for your prayer life. – Mark Batterson

Your reticular activating system kicks in when you give it awareness of a new future. You begin to see things you would not have seen before.

Remember: Don’t make goals a bondage. Make them a measuring stick. Continuously check in on your goals. Refocus them, adjust them, replan them. Prayer inspires goals. Goals inspire prayer. Pray about your goals!

  1. Write It Down

Habakkuk 2:2 Then the Lord answered me and said, “Record the vision

Ink it, don’t think it! Write down your vision. Write down the daily tasks to begin accomplishing your goals. Write down your revelations! Write it all down!

Think about these questions when it comes to your goals:

  • What promises is God speaking to your heart right now?
  • Who you intend to be?
  • What you want to do?
  • What people do you want to pray for?

Take a Bible and something to write on into every prayer time you have. Develop your to-do list out of your prayer time. Some people follow the write it down every day idea. Try it out!

There is something powerful about writing it down and truly listening to what God is putting on your heart.
