Planted People Prosper
Psalms 92:12-14 The righteous man will flourish like the palm tree, he will grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of our God. They will still yield fruit in old age; they shall be full of sap and very green.
Flourishing is God’s will for your life
- Flourish: To be in a vigorous state; thrive. To be in its or in one’s prime. To be successful/prosper. To grow luxuriantly. To do or fare well.
- 3 John 2 “Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers.”
- Flourishing is not a mountain for you to climb, it’s a promise for you to embrace
- You don’t have to work for this: it’s a grace to accept; God has plans for you to flourish (Jeremiah 29:11-14)
Flourishing is for the benefit of others
- Palm trees:
- Cedar trees:
- Olive trees:
- This city needs our church to flourish; spouses need each other to flourish. We need your business to flourish. The world needs your ministry to flourish.
Flourishing is tied to your environment
- Flourishing does not come about by trying harder but by creating proper conditions
- Your flourishing is tied to where you are planted: the right environment is essential for plants to flourish
- Christians flourish when they are planted in the house of God; trees are meant to be planted, not moved around
- Coming out from under the cover of the house causes you to be exposed to the enemy
- There is a supernatural covering that comes from being under the covering and being planted in the house
Flourishing is intended to be a lifelong journey
- Yielding fruit in old age; don’t buy the lie that you’re too old
- Full of sap, flexibility, and very green, something new and fresh going on in you
- Let’s grow up but not grow old
- The tree of our church is just getting into its prime
Flourishing is tied to the anointing of the house
- Psalm 52:8 “But as for me, I am like a green olive tree in the house of God; I trust in the lovingkindness of God forever and ever.”
- Olive trees produce olives which in turn produce oil; the anointing of the house flows down into your life
- Adapt to the house and the unique anointing that ultimately flows down from Jesus, the top leader
Flourishing is tied to your connection with Jesus
- John 15:4-5 “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in me. I am the vine and you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.”
- You have to have a connection with Jesus, not just go to church
- The God of the house is who truly causes us to flourish
- Embrace Jesus, get planted, embrace your church
