Grace – For Right Now

Hebrews 4:16
“Let us therefore draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace to help in the time of need.”

5 practical keys to receiving the grace of God in the season you’re in

1 – Draw near – don’t pull away

  • Hebrews 4:16 “Let us therefore draw near with confidence to the throne of grace.”
  • One of the biggest temptations in a day of trouble is to separate yourself from help
  • Proverbs 18:1 “He who separates himself seeks his own desire, He quarrels against all sound wisdom.”
  • When you’re down, busy, hurting, or in trouble, it’s easy to withdraw
  • Isolation makes crazy things start going on in your head; draw near to God instead: worship, prayer, time in the word, fellowship

2 -Watch your mouth

  • Hebrews 4:16; “confidence:” Greek root meaning freedom of speech
  • You can speak freely to the Lord in time of need
  • James 3:2-4; your tongue/words are your rudder and guide your life
  • God’s promises are voice-activated: words of worship, confession of God’s word, declarations of faith

3 – Walk in the authority of grace

  • Grace gives you the authority to come into His presence and to walk out into life
  • Spiritual authority is delegated; it’s not inherent
  • You can run your life with authority from your prayer closet
  • You have the powerful asset of a prayer life to access God’s help
  • Prayer is not just an asset for times of difficulty; you have the capability to grasp things in the heavenlies so they can be released in the natural
  • You can see and hear things that are beyond your circumstances

4 – Appropriate the grace and mercy you need

  • Mercy: judgment withheld, Grace: favor extended
  • Sometimes you come into God’s presence with something and sometimes for something
  • Grace and mercy are always available but both must be appropriated by faith
  • Ephesians 2:8 “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God.”

5 – Receive grace for this strategic season

  • Help in time of need “eukairos” is timely, strategic
  • There are different seasons: sowing, reaping, and pruning seasons
  • There is mercy and grace to help in this season; whatever that is for you
  • Rely on the grace of God at every strategic moment in life
  • Your life does not need to be going from one crisis to the next: accept God’s grace to move forward
